Mailing Lists

A mailing list is a collection of names and addresses used by an individual or an organization to send material to multiple recipients. The term is often extended to include the people subscribed to such a list, so the group of subscribers is referred to as “the mailing list”, or simply “the list”.

What is the most profitable list?

Obviously your own in-house client/customer contact list. A business might network, list their information in yellow pages, use social marketing methods, etc. Sometimes these marketing methods plateau in growth. But when these methods are enhanced by direct mail marketing, growth is scalable.

Why would you want to send your offer to a person that is not going to be receptive?

You wouldn’t, because you lose money and become “junk mail.” That is the power of a targeted mailing list. Match your prospect’s profile (demographics) to mailing lists selections for higher ROI. Utilizing marketing data in the form of a targeted list, can help you get your message directly in front of potential buyers. Buyers who need or may need your product or service, but did not know about your solutions.

Where does the marketing data originate?

There are four main types of direct mail lists:

  • Resident/Occupant “saturation” Lists
  • Compiled Lists
  • Managed Lists
  • Response Lists

Each list can be rented for a small fee from the list owner through a mailing list broker. The goal of your direct mail lead generation campaign should be to make sales and capture information. Track the results of your marketing mail campaign to make adjustments to increase ROI.
